FAQ – Alfaz del Pi & El Albir

1. How can I get from Alicante Airport to Alfaz del Pi?
You can take a bus from the airport to Benidorm, then Avanza nr 10 to Alfaz del Pi. Taxi or other transfer services (like this one) is an option (prices range from around 70-120 euros) or you can rent a car at the airport.

2. Which public transport options are available locally and to nearby cities?
There are buses connecting Alfaz del Pi to Benidorm and surrounding towns. The TRAM Line 9 runs from nearby Albir to Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Denia and other towns. To get to Alicante you can switch TRAM in Benidorm. Local taxis are available 24/7 and are mostly pet-friendly, and relatively cheap for the shorter rides to nearby towns. 3. Is it easy to get around without a car?
Yes, especially if you stay in El Albir. Walking, cycling and public transport are convenient, but having a car gives more flexibility for exploring inland or nearby towns.

4. Where can I find groceries, pharmacies and other essentials?
Supermarkets, local shops and pharmacies are scattered throughout Alfaz del Pi and El Albir. International and specialty products are mostly found near El Albir. Most supermarkets (except some smaller ones) close around 21-2145. Most stores and pharmacies are closed on Sundays, but some large chains or supermarkets near tourist areas may be open in the morning or early afternoon.

5. Are there good healthcare facilities nearby?
Yes. Alfaz del Pi and El Albir have clinics, dentists and pharmacies. The main hospital in Villajoyosa, Hospital Marina Baixa, is only a 10–15 minute drive away. There are also private hospital in Benidorm. 

6. Which areas are quieter versus livelier?
El Albir is livelier with restaurants, bars and beach access. At least in the summer. Central Alfaz del Pi is quieter, more residential and has a traditional Spanish village atmosphere. And if you really want to party then Benidorm is your place. 

7. Are there co-working spaces or cafés suitable for digital nomads?
Yes, there are several cafés and co-working spaces, especially in El Albir, with good Wi-Fi and a welcoming atmosphere for remote workers. We can mention Hub King and Hubben as great coworking spaces. Read more her. 

8. What are the typical utility and internet costs for long-term rentals?Utility costs depend on the size of the property and usage. For a standard apartment, expect around €50–150/month for electricity and water. Larger houses, especially those with a pool or garden, can reach €300–500/month. High-speed internet generally costs €30–40/month.

9. How safe is the area for families or solo travelers?
Alfaz del Pi is considered very safe. Crime is low, and neighborhoods are family-friendly, especially in residential areas.

10. Are there local clubs, hobby groups or expat communities to join?
Yes. There are expat associations, sports clubs, language exchanges and hobby groups. These are great ways to meet people and integrate into the community.

 

11. What cultural or leisure activities are available nearby?
Beaches, coastal walks, hiking trails, golf courses, tennis/padel, running tracks, great outdoor climbing routes, soccer fields and anything in between. There is also plenty of local festivals. Nearby towns like Altea offer art, music and cultural events.

12. Are there schools or childcare options for families relocating here?
Yes, there are public, private and international schools in Alfaz del Pi and nearby Albir, Altea, La Nucia and Benidorm catering to children of all ages. You can read more here. 

13. How does the local climate affect seasonal living?
The climate is mild Mediterranean: hot summers, mild winters. Spring and autumn are ideal for outdoor activities, while winter is comfortable for long-term stays. Degrees in the winter can get down to around 5-6 celsius in the night and around 14-20 in the day. Mostly sunny even though rainy days can occur. 

14. Is it pet-friendly? Are there vets or pet services nearby?
Many apartments, villas and some hotels allow pets. Most restaurants and coffeeshops allow you to bring your dog, not always inside  though. Local vets and pet services are plenty. Always check ahead for pet policies. There are also dogparks and dogfriendly beaches in the area. 

15. Can I find long-term rentals with fully furnished apartments or villas?
